M3 Grease Gun

Here is another weapon having to do with Grandpa Alf. It is the M3 Submachine Gun which is nicknamed the "grease gun". Grandpa would most likely have used one of these in World War Two. This cool looking gun fires .45 caliber bullets which are the same as those used in a Colt M1911 automatic pistol. Here is just another tool that was used by Grandpa Alf during World War Two in defense of our country.

It really does look like a grease gun. Terrible to think of young men facing guns. What a debt we owe them. I love the research you're doing. Thanks.

My dad was in the Infantry. He was in the Battle of Bulge. I was amazing to hear the stories about what he saw and did to stay alive.

He did indeed use one of these. He said of it's accuracy that you could put the gun in a vise and it would still spray the wall with bullets. Not too accurate I would say but I'm sure if someone was shooting one at you you would want to keep your head down.
