Approval Ratings

Here are a few statistics I found on CNN and Fox News about the Presidents and Congress' approval ratings.

Obama

CNN- According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, 51 percent of respondents disapprove of Obama's job performance and 46 percent approve of it.

Fox News-
Job Approval   Approve  Disapprove  Spread

Obama              47.1%        46.7%      +0.4%

Congress

CNN-Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government has become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

Fox News-

Job Approval    Approve    Disapprove    Spread

Congress            17.4%         77.0%          -59.6%
(http://www.foxnews.com/politics/index.html)

From what I gather this past week the health care bill was passed when a majority of the country didn't want it passed.  I don't understand why members of congress beleive they can just do what they want without representing the majority of the people in the United States.  There jobs as representatives and senators are to cast their vote bassed on the people they represent. It just seems to me that if Congress and the President will not listen to the American people they need to be removed from office and replaced by individuals who will represent the United States people when election time comes around.  We will just have to see what happens in this years elections and in 2012.

Grandpa Alf's Departure from the U.S.

Here are a few paragraphs from something I am writting about Grandpa Alf's Life I thought people might be interested in.
Alf left the states from Seattle, Washington on March 28th 1944 and he arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 5th 1944. He wrote the following in his military journal about his trip across and the ships he traveled on throughout the rest of the war:

Stinks. I never got sick but I was sure surprised [.] more of the ships. M. S. Slotderdyke. From K.S. to Guam- U.S.S. Warhawk – from Guam to Leyte – U.S.S. Elmore. From Leyte to Okinawa – L.S.T. From Okinawa to Luzon L.S.T. From Luzon to San Pedro. M.S.Welteroeden

The Communist Manifesto

I just finished reading the Communist Manifesto for a book Analasis in Sociology.  It was very difficult to read, but I beleive I got the main ideas out of it. I read the book not so I could learn to be a communist, but so I could see what a communist is and how I can recognize the signs of communism in its early stages. I would suggest that all Americans would read this book to know of the ideas behind communism and to understand enough to prevent the integrating of communism into modern societies.

You can buy a cheap copy here at Amazon for your own understanding of communism: The Communist Manifesto: Complete With Seven Rarely Published Prefaces

The Constitution Doesn't Need to Adapt

Obama 9th Circuit Nominee: Constitution Must Adapt to Changes in the World

"He believes the Constitution is something judges can manipulate to have it say what they think culture or evolving standards of decency requires of it in a given day," said the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Republican Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

These are just a few of the words I found in a article from http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/04/obama-th-circuit-nominee-constitution-adapt-changes-world/ talking about the viewpoint of Goodwin Liu, Obama's Nominee for the 9th circuit court.

What is wrong with the United States if our President is nominating people who can't follow the Constitution that this country was founded upon? Sure it's an old document, but it is not outdated and it does not need to be changed. Basic, true principals are good throughout eternity. The Constitution has many of those great eternal truths inside.

Maybe things such as the first amendment containing the freedoms of religion, speech, press, and assembly just might be too outdated. Maybe the parts of the Constitution that explain what powers the three branches of government have, are just not adapted to changes in the world. What are these changes in the world anyway? Communism? Progressivism?

The Constitution of the United States of America doesn't need to adapt to changes in the world. The world needs to heed the truths found in the Constitution.
