Recently in History we have been learning about World War Two. When it came down to describing Hitler's style of totalitarianism I don't think our history teacher knew as much as he could have. He stated that Hitler's government was a fascist government, which is very true, but he next said that fascism was on the far right wing or far conservative wing of the political scale. According to him fascism is completely opposite to communism and socialism. I believe that fascism, socialism, and communism are all very similar and that they are on the same side of the political scale. Because of this class I decided to learn about what Hitler's brand of totalitarianism is. I came to the following conclusions:
Hitler was a fascist dictator and that is for certain. Hitler and the Nazis were also socialists. Don't get me wrong, Hitler hated communists and even socialists, but it was because of the international ties communism and socialism had to other country's. Being a socialist the Nazi's allowed private property and business but it was highly regulated. Under Nazi socialism Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda leader, caused newspapers to print only stories in support of the Nazi's. The Nazi's were also highly Nationalist, especially in the idea that Aryan's (Germans) were the supreme race. If you put it all together, Hitler and his Nazi party could be categorized under the government type of National Socialist Fascism (my personal government classification of the Nazis).

It's kinda neat to have a son that is more informed than his teacher.
I've always heard that the far right and the far left are very much alike. The thing that bothers me is how a dictator can be far right. Far right is supposed to be no government at all.
Maybe there is no description for far right because it's really just chaos that a dictator can step into, and after that it becomes fascism.
Someone has to have power. Remember in the Book of Mormon when the people became wicked they wanted a king.

Keep up the good work. I, myself always wondered why the Natzis were called far right. I was always confused by the terminology. They seemed like two sides of the same cloth. We had better watch out,it may be coming our way.
